PRESENTATIONS

  • FORMAT: Oral BLITZ presentations
    • Presentations should be 6 minutes in length.
    • Your presentation will be followed by 4 minutes for Q&A with the audience.

  • KEYNOTES: This year’s keynote speakers are Dr. Gianni Lorello and Dr. John Marshall. All trainees are invited to an Eat, Greet & Speak session with our keynotes over the lunch hour. PRESENTATION DETAILS

  • FORMAT - BLITZ! All trainee presentations will be Blitz style again this year. So have fun. Be creative. Break out of the mold. What did you do? How did you do it? And most importantly, why does it matter to you and your field of study?
    • Give thought to what you present visually, especially in terms of its legibility on a screen in a large room.
  • LENGTH: Presentations should be 6 minutes in length.
    • Your presentation will be followed by 4 minutes for Q&A with the audience.
  • DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS
    • CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
      • Disclosures must be done verbally and using a slide at the beginning of the presentation.
      • All speakers must disclose any involvement with industry that may be perceived as potentially influencing the presentation of the research material. The disclosure text can be found in the following Powerpoint template.
      • If you are presenting a potential practice change, please include any barriers to implementation you experienced or that you foresee. The disclosure text can be found in the following Powerpoint template.
      • Please include a reference slide highlighting the evidence you considered in your work.
    • FUNDING
      • Please disclose and give credit to any funding sources.

JUDGING AND EVALUATION

  • AWARDS: Presentations will be evaluated, and prizes will be awarded during our awards ceremony at the end of the day.
  • JUDGING FORM: The criteria the judges will use to evaluate your presentation can be found here.
    • The top ranked anesthesia resident will be forwarded to the Faculty of Medicine Resident Research competition.

HOMEWORK BEFORE THE EVENT

  • TIMING: For the event to run smoothly, we must stick to a tight schedule. Please keep your presentation within the allotted time (6 min presentation + 4 min questions).
  • SUBMIT YOUR PRESENTATION FILE: All presentations will be preloaded on a department laptop. Presentations formatted for a PC are preferred, as switching between PC and MAC is cumbersome within the tight schedule.
