The Department of Anesthesia is committed to engaging in the discovery of new knowledge to advance the science and practice of anesthesia through scholarly inquiry and its translation into improved health practices, products and outcomes for the communities we serve.
Core areas of research in Anesthesia include bench, translational and clinical research, with emphasis on the following areas:

- Airway management
- Perioperative inflammation and organ protection
