Accountability Framework and Report 2010
The Research Accountability Framework articulates the Department of Anesthesia’s research activities and establishes clear standards and expectations against which achievements can be measured and results evaluated.
The Research Accountability Framework includes:
- Profile. This section describes the need for an accountability framework in the context of the department’s Office of Research and describes its governance structure.
- Results chain. This section provides a flow chart that ties resources devoted to research to outcomes through a logical sequence of activities and outputs.
- Measurement and reporting plan. A key element of the accountability framework is the identification of the most appropriate indicators of research activity and productivity, current departmental targets, how to measure the indicators and how to report the results.
- Evaluation strategy. The purpose of measuring and reporting results is to inform sound performance management and decision making. The evaluation strategy outlines a cyclical, iterative strategy for ongoing learning from our results and adjusting our strategy as required.
The Research Accountability Report (2010) covers the time period from January to December 2010. It is the product of the Framework’s Measurement and Reporting Plan. The results of this report will be used in the implementation of the Evaluation Strategy. Consistent with the Results Chain, the report reflects the activity of clinician researchers with protected time (time funded by the department) for research.
