Research in the Department of Anesthesia

A vibrant and productive research environment is critical for creating new knowledge that advances the science and practice of anesthesia. The Department of Anesthesia is committed to fostering a strong, dynamic research program.

Core areas of research in the department include bench, translational and clinical research, with emphasis on the following areas:

  • Pain
  • Airway management
  • Perioperative inflammation and organ protection

Outcomes research and device development are also areas of concentration.

Accountability Framework and Report

The Research Accountability Framework articulates the Department of Anesthesia’s research activities and establishes clear standards and expectations against which achievements can be measured and results evaluated. Read more about the Research Accountability Framework.
