The self-help book, Surviving Your Personal Injuries Insurance Claim: A Guidebook, by Dr. Mary Lynch, is a timely and necessary material. Dr. Lynch is an expert in pain, particularly chronic pain resulting from injury, and her experience with patients in her practice has placed her in a uniquely qualified position to help this population.

I believe that the numbers of persons interested in this guidebook will not be insignificant, and will include health care professionals as well as patients and family members. I look forward to seeing it in press and to notify members of the Canadian Pain Society about it.

C. Celeste Johnston, RN, DEd
Past President, Canadian Pain Society
James McGill Professor
McGill University

This guidebook authored by Dr. Lynch, a prominent clinician and researcher in the field of chronic pain management, is an excellent source of information for any individual who has suffered injury and is involved in the claims process.

This book clearly outlines the complex maze individuals have to go through to receive appropriate compensation, it offers helpful hints throughout, and clearly explains many of the terms used, concepts and what to expect. An added value of the book is that it also provides much information about the aftermath of litigation and how individuals have to continue to live with chronic pain.

This book will be invaluable to many patients who have suffered injury and disability because of injury. For any individual entering these processes it should be obligatory reading.
