Cardiac Anesthesia

AT 026[1].jpgCardiac surgery is a complex field of medicine with significant risk to patients. Quality anesthesia care with specific attention to detail can greatly enhance patient safety and outcomes.

The cardiac anesthesia team supports a variety of cardiac procedures in the cath lab and electrophysiology lab, and all cardiac surgeries at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, most of which require cardiopulmonary bypass. The team also provides anesthesia care for patients with cardiac-related problems who require a variety of orthopaedic and general surgeries, routinely performs transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) and provides primary care to patients in the QEII’s critical care units.
